At home skin care
There are so many skin care lines, serums, creams, cleansers, and masks out on the market. I am here to help you decide what you really need for your at home skin care routine.
First off it is important to select the correct cleanser for your skin type. I constantly see clients with dry or sensitive skin using drug store cleansers made for people with oily/acne skin types. This is stripping the skin of the already to no oil production. It is important to use a cream based cleanser to keep your skin from over working itself causing your skin stress that may result in blemishes. The only complaint I hear from clients is feeling the cream based cleanser doesn’t remove enough make up and impurities. A precleanse (especially for a dry/sensitive skin type) can help balance the lack of oil on the skin and remove most of the make up from the day. I suggest vitamin E oil as a simple precleanse (you can also use after you cleanse for added moisture) After you cleanse it is now time to tone your skin. Toners are designed to balance the Ph of the skin. Make sure (like all skin care products) you are selecting the one designed for your specific skin type. The next step should be the application of a serum. The purpose of this step is to target your specific skin concern. When applying a serum make sure and pat the product into the skin rather then rubbing it in. This will allow for proper absorption. Before applying your last layer make sure and apply eye cream in the under eye and corner areas. The skin around the eye area is one of the most sensitive areas of the face so be sure you remember the importance of this step! It can save you years of youth in the future! Lastly you want to select a moisturizer that gives your skin the best benefits. If you have oily skin you still need to moisturize. People often don’t realize the difference between dehydration and lack of oil on the skin, although the lack of oil can cause your skin to seem more dry. You can also have oily skin and be water dehydrated. Night time is when your skin is doing all its repairing. This is a great time to use thick creams to get the best benefits you can.
A proper diet full of raw fruits and vegetables can also drastically improve the health and over all look of your skin. Foods rich in (naturally occurring) oils and fats allow for healthy lubricated skin. Have you had a glass of wine lately? If not, why not?! Grapes are full of naturally occurring collagen! Collagen is what gives skin a full, light and plump look. What we put in our bodies reflex on our skin. Eating lots of proceed food lacking nutrition can cause skin to brake down sooner in life and appear dull.
When out shopping for skin care it is important to choose products that are chemical free and made with natural and organic products. What we put on our skin absorbs into our body. It is scary to think all those chemicals absorb directly into our blood stream. Here at Studio 229 we strive to provide our clients with the best, most effective natural products.
