I would like to introduce the lovely Cecilia to Studio 229. She is our new Esthetician. She is leasing the spa across the hall and getting her new business SKIN off to a great start. Her specialty is organic skin care and hair removal in the form of sugaring.
Wax is an adhesive, meaning that it adheres to your skin. As a result, when you remove the wax (and hair) from your skin, you will experience a good bit of pain. Unlike waxing. our sugar paste does not adhere to your skin; therefore, it is a lot less painful when the hair and sugar is removed. Plus, with sugar we remove hair in the natural direction of growth. The end result is beautiful, silky smooth skin.
The sugaring process is totally safe, is completely natural and water soluble. In fact, our product is so safe that it is even edible. When you choose to use sugar, you veer away from the chemical-based waxing products that are typically used in the hair removal process.
Sugaring will not:
- Damage your skin
- Burn your skin
- Scar your hair follicles
- Promote ingrown hair
- Cause unsightly “pits” for your facial skin
Sugaring is far superior to wax when it comes to protecting your skin and keeping it smooth and supple.
SKIN at Studio 229 the sugar is applied in the natural direction of growth for your hair. That is in contrast to waxing, which removes against the grain. This only causes unnecessary pain and discomfort. By going with the grain, sugaring removes hair with less pain.
Also, sugar doesn’t stick to live skin cells. Wax does. When you turn to sugar for hair removal, you use something that isn’t an adhesive.
Feel free to call the salon or book online at studio229.net if you would like to come and see Cecilia and experience this less painful, organic, better form of hair removal.
With the influx of hair color techniques such as ombre and balayage it is rare that the stylists here at Studio 229 do a regular all over hair color or partial foil. Instead, more commonly stylists cocktail color techniques in order to get hair that is suited to clients lifestyle, skin tone and face framing.
What is so great about this for you is what typically would consume a half day in the hair salon to perform multiple services to achieve these effects and a good portion of your expendable income has now been reduced to a couple of hours and one price tag. Industry innovation in the hair industry goes farther then technique, with additives such as Olaplex the condition of your hair is also left feeling soft, manageable and amazing.
Examples of this can be seen with this soft red with warm tones of blonde and natural brown undertones that show how an all over color was applied to the root area of the hair and then a lightener was painted on to add extra highlights and soften the hair to go with her milky skin tone.
Another example of cocktailing is shown in this picture where an all over color is done and then the hair is painted on the ends and around the face to create lighter ends and darker roots:
This natural look is reminiscent of living in a sunny climate because the hair would naturally fade to lighter on the ends. Most people also tend to be a little lighter around their face. The other advantage to this type of hair coloring is the grow out of the highlight is less obvious and can be done less frequent.
One does not have to be of a certain age group to pull off this type of hair color nor is this any longer considered a trend. A couple of years ago when coloring just the ends of your hair was trending (ombre) in the hair industry it was definitely a trend. Since, hair color has become much more refined and these techniques have graduated into hair color styles that fit every dimension, in every blend, to fit every life style.
If you are tired of the same old hair color and would like to explore something exciting yet refined we would love to consult with you about your hair color. Consultations are always free and we would enjoy a chat about what is best suited for your hair color.
Beautiful Dimensional Hair Color: Match Skin Tone When stylist talk about dimensional hair color we may be talking about many things. Most importantly though, it must match your skin tone. There are not only several techniques as those of you know who have been following my blogs, but many different outcomes. Today I would like to show the world, or those of you interested some of the fun outcomes associated with dimensional hair color. The thing with techniques now days is that we as hair designers and artist tend to cocktail so many of the current techniques in order to achiever the desired results depending on the length, fullness, texture and desired result of the hair color. Another thing to keep in mind is if you would like drastic results, it will probably take more than one visit in order to keep your hair healthy. Not always but it is a good thing to keep in mind. I know you have heard me say it a thousand times but lets start with the basics; skin tone. If your skin has a lot of red in it, it’s probably best to stay away from the red or warm tones. If you are super ashy you probably want to put a little warmth into your hair. The contrast of skin and hair just looks nice. I’m not saying that you have to. Just saying it is best suited. Also when covering gray it has a tendency to turn warm when the color fades no matter your skin tone so be careful with that. Back to dimension. Let’s look at a before and after picture of a multidimensional hair color
The nice thing about adding all of the dark hair color to her hair is that she will be in the salon much less. Instead of coming in every 4 weeks for foils she will only have to come in about every 3 months for this much more natural sun kissed looking balayage dimensional hair color. Her hair is much healthier feeling (and looking).
Other examples of multidimensional hair color include good old fashion foils which are holding there own if done right. Check out this beautiful hair color:
This multidimensional foil has been done on this client a couple of times. This is how we are able to get several colors and maintain the integrity of her hair. Even from her back it is easy to see how her skin tone compliments her hair color adding life and making her glow. This is what a good hair color is suppose to do for you and why we recommend tones so strongly. There are some people with neutral skin tones that can get away with any hair color and still look amazing.
They are few and far between though. Here is a beautiful lady with brown hair and cooper peek-a-boos. When her hair is down it is a cute bob and the cooper barely shows. Notice how her skin tone is a bit ash making this cooper hair color really pop beautifuly against it.
If you are interested in having your skin tone analyzed in coordination with your hair color feel free to give us a call and book an appointment for a consultation. Trendy hair fun!
Hello World! lol. I’m DeAnna:
I have this great trendy little hair salon on Capitol Hill in Seattle. We are known for our great hair color techniques. A great hair color service is not complete without an awesome hair cut. We also do a great hair cut. We keep up with the latest trends by attending all of the available education we can, watching lots of YouTube videos and keeping on eye on all fashion trends. The salon has a great laid back vibe. We serve tea before 3 and wine after 3 to those who partake.
Our vision is to create an environment that offers the best quality service available with luxury products that ensure the health of your hair. Once you have decided to make an appointment we will do our best to make sure that you are happy with your trendy hair by listening to what you want, why you want to wear you hair that way, help to guide you with a professional opinion about your face shape etc., your lifestyle, what you do to style your hair, what type of products would suit these things to ensure the proper hair cut for your unique you.
All of this is done with a consultation before your hair is cut. Perhaps you are thinking about a trim, or perhaps you are thinking about taking off several inches. Maybe straight across bangs would give your hair that Wow! look you have been searching for.
Although this hair cut is super chic and very hot right now what is trending for early 2015 on the runways is super long hair. Some people are growing out their bobs but it is still important to keep your tresses clean on the ends. Nothing looks worse than long ratty hair. We suggest that you get your hair at least trimmed every 2 months. If you are growing your hair out, find someone who will “tip” the ends to ensure the length.
These beachy waves are in and very wearable by almost everyone. If you have wavy hair this look can be accomplished with air-drying your hair with a sea salt sprayed into your hair while wet and scrunching your hair and then using the same spray again while it is dry. Another fun look for 2015 is the “new bob.” This bob is a little longer than the traditional bob and a little more wearable. It does not take the same amount of maintenance and doesn’t have the clean lines.
I don’t think it would be fare to no show you some of the great , luxurious styling products used to create these looks. What is nice is that you too, can have these looks! They are some of the easiest looks to create that have been highly fashionable in a long time. If your hair is bone straight you would need to use a large curling iron and pull out the curls; however, if you have a slightly wavy hair texture here is your product.
Any questions about shorter hair cuts, hair color or free consultations can be directed to 206-322-6325. Or if you would like to discuss more about any of the concepts talked about in this blog feel free to call. Appointments times always include enough time for an in-depth consultation. We do have on-line booking available for your convenience at studio229.net if you prefer. We would love to meet you and use our creative talents on your hair.
Healthy bleached lightened foiled hair- olaplex! If you are thinking about lighting, bleaching, or foiling your hair please use olaplex. It is a new technological advancement that has made the hair industry made it possible to bleach fine hair without damaging the hair. This treatment is added to the bleach or lightener. It is very exciting to us hair designers. It works by taking the bonds of your hair and makes them stronger. which are broken down by the peroxide developer so that your hair is now “open” to receive color or bleach. This breaking down causes them to become single sulfur-hydrogen bonds. Once the oxygen bonds from the peroxide start to react with these new, much weaker bonds, they more often than not cause a negative chain reaction. Then the proteins in your hair to be eaten away which means your hair can get dryer than before the service. That’s why bleach is sometimes damaging. Olaplex links together the broken bonds created by chemical processing in your hair which prevents damage from ever happening. For stylists, this means double processing on the same day without worry and for clients this means having bleached hair that does not feel dry after a bleach service but instead feels soft and luscious. Olaplex literally seals the bonds of the hair. There is never been anything like this in the hair industry. Ever.
This means we can take black hair and make it white, fine hair and make it blonde as we want, the possibilities are endless. New doors have opened and we are so excited! Is there a hair color that you have always wanted and could not have? That may have changed.
Not only are we able to get dark hair lighter but we can also lighten fine hair without breaking or damaging it. This also keeps the hair shiny and smooth after a color or bleach process because Olaplex actually acts as a bonding agent that reseals the cuticle layer of the hair. It is the most advanced revolutionary additive that has come across the professional hair design scene in 50 years. We will now be using it on almost everyone who want their hair to have this shinier healthier effect. One should note that if you would like Olaplex added into your formulation there will be an added charge for it is a very expensive product. The hair seems as if it has not been bleached:
We will be happy to consult with you about this lightning process or any of your hair needs. Feel free to call the salon at 206-322-6325 for a consultation and speak with DeAnna our color coordinator. We look forward to answering any questions that you may have.
