Thinking of Cutting Your Hair Mid-Length?
Thinking of Cutting Your Hair Mid-Length?
It seems that at one point or another we all have gone from longish hair to mid-length hair. Maybe we are even considering something a little shorter for the New Year! Going shorter can feel like shedding the old to make way for something new.
Mid-Length haircuts don’t require as much commitment. After all, you can still wear your hair up. You still get the benefits of faster blow drying, heat styling, and less product. Plus, if you end up thinking that long hair suits you better, growing it back out is relatively painless.
Although it is always tempting to go for a new look, please consider the mid-length haircut for awhile first. Although these cuts are fantastic, it will take awhile for you to grow your haircut back out. According to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ human hair grows about 6 inches per month.
There are some really cute photos of mid-length hair out there. Hair color looks amazing with it too. I love it waved with a curling iron. When you get a moment, browse Google for some looks! Here are a couple of before and afters that I have done recently.
Here is the before:
And the after, she is still able to put up her hair.
Styling mid-length hair can be a lot of fun too! Rather than wearing it straight, or cutting it more one length, like the person above, you could either go a little shorter, more layered and curl it a bit.
One of Studio 229’s top selling products is called Puff Me.
Puff Me also comes in a white bottle which is there light formula. It retails for $19.95, adds a ton of body and kinda feels like a dry shampoo, but stickier.
I also wanted to show you some pretty mid-length hair with color:

Short Haircuts
Wearing Short Haircuts
Exercise #1: Tell Your Mother to go to hell.
Not in the literal sense. Write it down. All those negative comments about how you should wear your hair. Tell her how you really feel. The point isn’t to hurt her, but to help you. Then get rid of it. AND the ugly voice inside of your head. Now that you’re free, let’s get to business.
Exercise #2 Own your short haircut
There are many amazing short haircuts that can look great on all head shapes and facial structures. The key is to pick the correct one for your specific head shape and facial structure. Although you may be one of the lucky ones, who can wear anything, not everyone is. Check out this lovely lucky one:

Fashionable designer collection with the use of metal wire. Avant-garde style. Futurism.
Notice how the lines of her hair and her bone structure are in sync. Simply beautiful.
Not everyone can wear their hair like this. However there are a lot of short hairstyles that one can wear: modified pixie, modified wedge, layered short bob. Keep in mind that all haircuts can be modified to fit your face/head shape.
Let’s take a look at some haircuts. Starting with a classic pixie, and moving on to longer haircuts will give you some ideas of how you may want to wear your hair.
Another resource for the classic pixie can be found here:
https://www.studio229.net/pixie-haircut-studio229-seattle-salon/
The pixie is the shortest other than shaved sides. So let’s look at something with a little more length on top.
Notice how despite this girl’s larger nose she can still wear this cute shorter cut. Yes, I said it. Doesn’t mean she isn’t adorable! Personally though I think the sides would look better tightened up a tad.
This one is a bit more “wedge” like:
(I’m not sure what’s going on with her shirt)
This one above is cute too but I also think that modifying the back and taking it “in” a bit would be nice.
If you are growing out your short haircut the natural progression seems to be a bob. This is because it develops some weight at the bottom of your hair line. Also, consider adding some hair color to your short haircut. It just keeps things snazzy. Check out these layered modified bobs:
Don’t be afraid to shave underneath. We hear at Studio 229 do free maintenance haircuts in between your haircut in order to keep that up for you. We also offer online booking at https://www.studio229.net/request/ Hope to see you soon!
Beautiful Dimensional Hair Color: Match Skin Tone
Beautiful Dimensional Hair Color: Match Skin Tone When stylist talk about dimensional hair color we may be talking about many things. Most importantly though, it must match your skin tone. There are not only several techniques as those of you know who have been following my blogs, but many different outcomes. Today I would like to show the world, or those of you interested some of the fun outcomes associated with dimensional hair color. The thing with techniques now days is that we as hair designers and artist tend to cocktail so many of the current techniques in order to achiever the desired results depending on the length, fullness, texture and desired result of the hair color. Another thing to keep in mind is if you would like drastic results, it will probably take more than one visit in order to keep your hair healthy. Not always but it is a good thing to keep in mind. I know you have heard me say it a thousand times but lets start with the basics; skin tone. If your skin has a lot of red in it, it’s probably best to stay away from the red or warm tones. If you are super ashy you probably want to put a little warmth into your hair. The contrast of skin and hair just looks nice. I’m not saying that you have to. Just saying it is best suited. Also when covering gray it has a tendency to turn warm when the color fades no matter your skin tone so be careful with that. Back to dimension. Let’s look at a before and after picture of a multidimensional hair color
The nice thing about adding all of the dark hair color to her hair is that she will be in the salon much less. Instead of coming in every 4 weeks for foils she will only have to come in about every 3 months for this much more natural sun kissed looking balayage dimensional hair color. Her hair is much healthier feeling (and looking).
Other examples of multidimensional hair color include good old fashion foils which are holding there own if done right. Check out this beautiful hair color:
This multidimensional foil has been done on this client a couple of times. This is how we are able to get several colors and maintain the integrity of her hair. Even from her back it is easy to see how her skin tone compliments her hair color adding life and making her glow. This is what a good hair color is suppose to do for you and why we recommend tones so strongly. There are some people with neutral skin tones that can get away with any hair color and still look amazing.
They are few and far between though. Here is a beautiful lady with brown hair and cooper peek-a-boos. When her hair is down it is a cute bob and the cooper barely shows. Notice how her skin tone is a bit ash making this cooper hair color really pop beautifuly against it.
If you are interested in having your skin tone analyzed in coordination with your hair color feel free to give us a call and book an appointment for a consultation. One of our color specialist will be happy to let you know what colors would be best suited for you. Our phone number is 206-322-6325. Or just keep reading our blogs! We have a lot we would like to share with you!
Trendy, sassy wearable hair cuts for 2015
Trendy hair fun!
Hello World! lol. I’m DeAnna:
I have this great trendy little hair salon on Capitol Hill in Seattle. We are known for our great hair color techniques. A great hair color service is not complete without an awesome hair cut. We also do a great hair cut. We keep up with the latest trends by attending all of the available education we can, watching lots of YouTube videos and keeping on eye on all fashion trends. The salon has a great laid back vibe. We serve tea before 3 and wine after 3 to those who partake.
Our vision is to create an environment that offers the best quality service available with luxury products that ensure the health of your hair. Once you have decided to make an appointment we will do our best to make sure that you are happy with your trendy hair by listening to what you want, why you want to wear you hair that way, help to guide you with a professional opinion about your face shape etc., your lifestyle, what you do to style your hair, what type of products would suit these things to ensure the proper hair cut for your unique you.
All of this is done with a consultation before your hair is cut. Perhaps you are thinking about a trim, or perhaps you are thinking about taking off several inches. Maybe straight across bangs would give your hair that Wow! look you have been searching for.
Although this hair cut is super chic and very hot right now what is trending for early 2015 on the runways is super long hair. Some people are growing out their bobs but it is still important to keep your tresses clean on the ends. Nothing looks worse than long ratty hair. We suggest that you get your hair at least trimmed every 2 months. If you are growing your hair out, find someone who will “tip” the ends to ensure the length.
These beachy waves are in and very wearable by almost everyone. If you have wavy hair this look can be accomplished with air-drying your hair with a sea salt sprayed into your hair while wet and scrunching your hair and then using the same spray again while it is dry. Another fun look for 2015 is the “new bob.” This bob is a little longer than the traditional bob and a little more wearable. It does not take the same amount of maintenance and doesn’t have the clean lines.
I don’t think it would be fare to no show you some of the great , luxurious styling products used to create these looks. What is nice is that you too, can have these looks! They are some of the easiest looks to create that have been highly fashionable in a long time. If your hair is bone straight you would need to use a large curling iron and pull out the curls; however, if you have a slightly wavy hair texture here is your product.
Any questions about shorter hair cuts, hair color or free consultations can be directed to 206-322-6325. Or if you would like to discuss more about any of the concepts talked about in this blog feel free to call. Appointments times always include enough time for an in-depth consultation. We do have on-line booking available for your convenience at studio229.net if you prefer. We would love to meet you and use our creative talents on your hair.
Asymmetrical Haircuts
Asymmetrical haircuts are great. If you are looking for something a little different, a little funkier but still wearable, an asymmetrical haircut may be a good look for you. After all, they never really go out of style.
Not perfectly symmetrical , an asymmetrical haircut may be slightly different or drastically different on one side from the other, depending on the level of drama you desire. This can be a great way to switch up your bob or shoulder length hair easily. This is one of our favorites:
The look can be soft and feminine or more edgy and shattered –depending on your hair type and preference. A good consultation with one of our cutting cutting experts can help determine what look would work best with your hair type, face shape and lifestyle.
This asymmetrical haircut also grows out beautifully and is super easy to change or update. So why not just go for it? If you wish to get a different type of haircut that is cool too. We are always here for you! Mention this blog posting and get $10.00 off a new look today!
