Current Hair Trends
Current Hair Trends
Current hair trends that may appeal to you or give you ideas as to how you may want to style or color and cut your hair. I hope that some of these ideas give you inspiration!
Dye it Blue
Blue is one of the hottest colors of 2018. An electric blue has been seen all over fashion runways this season. Also seen in Sci-fi thrillers like Hailey Baldwin. Mixing this fabulous color is fun, current and trendy:
For the more experimental hair chameleons out there, be warned, blue does not wash out easily. If you are are afraid of commitment you may want to avoid this color.
Keep Your Natural Curl
There is a current trend with natural textured hair. Keeping your curl is not only trendy, but easy and beautiful. Forget the relaxor curly girls, this is your year!
Avoid brushing textured hair. Use your fingers on wet hair, apply product and then just leave it alone.
Dirty Blonde
From Selena Gomez to Lily Collins, dirty blonde is the new A-list hair colour trend du jour. Keep the roots dark, and the lengths a warm golden blonde to get the trend bang on. It is true that it use to be about getting your hair whiter and whiter because it seemed so unattainable. I’ve been saying it for awhile now, golden shades are the new platinum.

Big & Bouncy
There was a time when everyone seemed to use a straightening iron. Now, it seems like everyone uses the curling iron. Sometimes it’s beachy waves and sometimes it’s smaller curls, with a little Puff Me:
and hairspray. This is a great product for lift at the roots. Whatever the case, it’s all about a whole lot of bounce to keep up with the models at fashion week this year. Think Cindy Crawford and her white T-shirt and jeans. It really is a timeless look.
Headscarves
A little granny chic, a whole lot of Rivera cool. Head scarves are back. Working there way down Marc Jacobs runway and Derek Lam’s, grab your aunt’s printed silk head scarf to look oh so SS18.
Ideally scarfs should be worn with an Italian luxe and feel. Wear it tied flat around the head with a low chignon with bounce at the crown and embrace the flyaway texture to keep it young and cool. Antique patterns and textures make it a real feature.
Bobs with Fringes
Bobs and even longer cuts are trending with more layers and fringes. This provides more of a natural and fuller look to the hair. It makes it easier for you to curl your hair and also makes styling your hair fun because there is facial framing. It gives your face and eyes points of connection which can really enhance your features as well.

Although her hair is fine it still has lots of fringy texture.

What’s up with Broadway?
What’s up with Broadway?
Capitol Hill Seattle
Honestly, being a small business owner, my perspective of Broadway isn’t all that different than the community I serve. Light rail has been open for almost two years now https://www.soundtransit.org/About-Sound-Transit/News-and-events/News-releases/light-rail-reaches-seattle-s-capitol-hill
and although it’s amazing, I don’t think that it warrants the increase in rents that landlords thought it would. Hence, all the for lease spaces. Perhaps, get a clue, and lower rents since even chains like Einsten’s bagels, that seemed busy, can’t seem to generate enough profit to stay in long-term leases. I don’t know I’m certainly not an expert on property management. But something’s seriously wrong.

Broadway Capitol Hill Seattle
The thing is though, light rail has made it a literal 2 minute ride to or from downtown or to the U district. It is so convenient that the city has raised Capitol Hill parking to 10pm. They say it is good for businesses! It is working for people who live in on or near Capitol Hill in Seattle to go car less. This concept is great for climate change. However, if you do not live on a bus line and want to come have dinner on the Hill, or get a haircut, I suggest downloading the Pay to Park App. for ease. However, because there is a 2 hour limit pay at the pay station on the street and take note of the number and take a picture of your license plate. Then refill time on the app. Wala, 4 hours. Loophole!
Although you may find the Pike/Pine corridor a bit more lively, this is because it is closer to town, landlords haven’t anticipated increased foot traffic because of light rail, and increased rents; and Broadway, and the surrounding area, is more residential. However, getting to Broadway is a bit easier because of light rail.
The residential trend will continue on Broadway as the construction is scheduled to start in 2018 on five new buildings adjacent to the light rail project and Cal Anderson Park. There will also be a Broadway Plaza. Here is a link to that project published in the Capitol Hill Blog. http://www.capitolhillseattle.com/2016/12/first-look-at-capitol-hill-station-development-designs-seven-stories-427-units-and-a-new-broadway-plaza/
Okay, it doesn’t seem that even with new construction and 427 more units scheduled that there is a too big of chance that North Capitol Hill, will fill all these retail spaces, especially since more are coming. Construction won’t even be done till about 2020. Unless there is some changes, personally I think that 427 units is not going to make that big of a deal 3 years from now. Hope I’m wrong. Unless the city, landlords and businesses work together to create viable and affordable spaces that can work for the public the trend of for lease spaces will continue on Broadway.
Well for now there is plenty of good restaurants, hair salons and another new walk-in clinic going in where Charlie’s was (In case you’re too sick to walk 2 blocks).
After talking to 4-6 clients and friends per day, they give me reviews of their favorite restaurants up here! I had dinner at a Malaysian one the other night and the food was A-mazing! Here is a link to there web sight http://www.kedaimakansea.com/
The prices were great too! And the drinks were special and had flavours that were new to me. There was a slight wait (around 25 minutes) but worth it.
Another great spot to hit up for breakfast or lunch is Cafe Solstice. There is a laid back vibe there and good sandwiches, ales, baked goods, coffee and music.
Okay, I will plug my business too with a link and let you decide for yourself as we are definitely one of the premier salons on Capitol Hill. https://www.studio229.net/

Short Haircuts
Wearing Short Haircuts
Exercise #1: Tell Your Mother to go to hell.
Not in the literal sense. Write it down. All those negative comments about how you should wear your hair. Tell her how you really feel. The point isn’t to hurt her, but to help you. Then get rid of it. AND the ugly voice inside of your head. Now that you’re free, let’s get to business.
Exercise #2 Own your short haircut
There are many amazing short haircuts that can look great on all head shapes and facial structures. The key is to pick the correct one for your specific head shape and facial structure. Although you may be one of the lucky ones, who can wear anything, not everyone is. Check out this lovely lucky one:

Fashionable designer collection with the use of metal wire. Avant-garde style. Futurism.
Notice how the lines of her hair and her bone structure are in sync. Simply beautiful.
Not everyone can wear their hair like this. However there are a lot of short hairstyles that one can wear: modified pixie, modified wedge, layered short bob. Keep in mind that all haircuts can be modified to fit your face/head shape.
Let’s take a look at some haircuts. Starting with a classic pixie, and moving on to longer haircuts will give you some ideas of how you may want to wear your hair.
Another resource for the classic pixie can be found here:
https://www.studio229.net/pixie-haircut-studio229-seattle-salon/
The pixie is the shortest other than shaved sides. So let’s look at something with a little more length on top.
Notice how despite this girl’s larger nose she can still wear this cute shorter cut. Yes, I said it. Doesn’t mean she isn’t adorable! Personally though I think the sides would look better tightened up a tad.
This one is a bit more “wedge” like:
(I’m not sure what’s going on with her shirt)
This one above is cute too but I also think that modifying the back and taking it “in” a bit would be nice.
If you are growing out your short haircut the natural progression seems to be a bob. This is because it develops some weight at the bottom of your hair line. Also, consider adding some hair color to your short haircut. It just keeps things snazzy. Check out these layered modified bobs:
Don’t be afraid to shave underneath. We hear at Studio 229 do free maintenance haircuts in between your haircut in order to keep that up for you. We also offer online booking at https://www.studio229.net/request/ Hope to see you soon!

Trendy, sassy wearable hair cuts for 2015
Trendy hair fun!
Hello World! lol. I’m DeAnna:
I have this great trendy little hair salon on Capitol Hill in Seattle. We are known for our great hair color techniques. A great hair color service is not complete without an awesome hair cut. We also do a great hair cut. We keep up with the latest trends by attending all of the available education we can, watching lots of YouTube videos and keeping on eye on all fashion trends. The salon has a great laid back vibe. We serve tea before 3 and wine after 3 to those who partake.
Our vision is to create an environment that offers the best quality service available with luxury products that ensure the health of your hair. Once you have decided to make an appointment we will do our best to make sure that you are happy with your trendy hair by listening to what you want, why you want to wear you hair that way, help to guide you with a professional opinion about your face shape etc., your lifestyle, what you do to style your hair, what type of products would suit these things to ensure the proper hair cut for your unique you.
All of this is done with a consultation before your hair is cut. Perhaps you are thinking about a trim, or perhaps you are thinking about taking off several inches. Maybe straight across bangs would give your hair that Wow! look you have been searching for.
Although this hair cut is super chic and very hot right now what is trending for early 2015 on the runways is super long hair. Some people are growing out their bobs but it is still important to keep your tresses clean on the ends. Nothing looks worse than long ratty hair. We suggest that you get your hair at least trimmed every 2 months. If you are growing your hair out, find someone who will “tip” the ends to ensure the length.
These beachy waves are in and very wearable by almost everyone. If you have wavy hair this look can be accomplished with air-drying your hair with a sea salt sprayed into your hair while wet and scrunching your hair and then using the same spray again while it is dry. Another fun look for 2015 is the “new bob.” This bob is a little longer than the traditional bob and a little more wearable. It does not take the same amount of maintenance and doesn’t have the clean lines.
I don’t think it would be fare to no show you some of the great , luxurious styling products used to create these looks. What is nice is that you too, can have these looks! They are some of the easiest looks to create that have been highly fashionable in a long time. If your hair is bone straight you would need to use a large curling iron and pull out the curls; however, if you have a slightly wavy hair texture here is your product.
Any questions about shorter hair cuts, hair color or free consultations can be directed to 206-322-6325. Or if you would like to discuss more about any of the concepts talked about in this blog feel free to call. Appointments times always include enough time for an in-depth consultation. We do have on-line booking available for your convenience at studio229.net if you prefer. We would love to meet you and use our creative talents on your hair.
