Chemexfoliation treatments also known as chemical peels are great for all kinds of skin issues. Many people fear the thought of a “chemical peel”. There are many different kinds and strengths. The peels our skin experts use here at Studio 229 on Capitol Hill in Seattle, are less severe then ones done in dermatologist offices and medical spas. The two options we offer are glycolic (30% or 40%) and salicylic. The two have little to no down time.
For mature skin a glycolic acid treatment is always a great way to encourage skin cell turnover and keep skin looking radiant and youthful. The glycolic acid removes the top, dead skin cells to reveal new healthy skin. When used in a series the peels, over time, can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Salicylic acid peel treatments work best on acne prone skin. The salicylic peel helps to bring down inflammation and dry out the filaments and oils on the skin. Most clients see results after just one chemical peel treatment.
It is very important after any skin treatment, especially a chemical peel, to apply liberal amounts of sun screen. Direct sun exposure after a treatment can cause scaring at the site of a blemish. Sun screen is always important but if it is not something already in your daily skin routine, it needs to be after having any chemical peel. You may notice some redness after your treatment. This should only be this way for a couple days with little or no peeling of the skin. Chemical peels are treatments you should leave to the professionals. There are risks of chemical burning to the skin if the procedure is done incorrectly. Our Estheticians here at Studio 229 in Seattle bring only the best, safest, and most affective treatments possible!

An anti-aging facial is an intensive and relaxing treatment that focuses on rebuilding collagen and is designed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. An anti-aging facial improves cellular turnover and firms, rejuvenates with lymphatic drainage to calm balance and hydrate the skin. One of our Signature facials or European facials stands out because extra attention is paid to the sensitive eye area, thus reducing puffiness. Also, specialized pressure point relaxation techniques and added massage complete this experience. A deep cleansing facial is ideal for acne prone skin because it provides deep pore cleansing. It also soothes and re-balances problematic skin. This facial includes steam with antiseptic properties and a detailed extraction of impurities.
All facials include a mask. The type of mask that the skin care specialist uses on you depends on your type of facial and the type of skin that you have. Just because you purchase one type of facial does not mean you necessarily will get a certain type of mask. You are unique. The esthetician will use the mask best suited for your skin type. A lot of people have combination skin. Therefore a mask targeted towards multiple concerns for your skin will be used in order to achieve whatever goal best suited for your unique skin.
Often an esthetician will recommend one of Studio 229 many add-ons for your unique skin concerns. Perhaps an eye treatment is in order to soften fine lines. An eye treatment is also great for hydrating around the eye for it is concentrated with aloe Vera and collagen-infused.
Chemical peels and microdermabrasion can also be added on to a facial treatment for an advanced non-abrasive deep exfoliation to rid your skin of fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes. Although at times it may feel that the sun is hiding from us here in Seattle it does not mean that its harmful UV rays aren’t damaging our skin. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are great facial add-ons that will reverse sun damage and keep your skin looking youthful and glowing. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are also an effective way to combat the signs of aging by removing fine lines, pigment spots and acne scars.
This is microdermabrasion treatment on pigment spots after six treatments. The results can be dramatic with 3-12 treatments. Whatever treatment you choose or whatever add-on a facial is a great way to take care of yourself. A facial keeps you looking young and feeling young. A facial keeps your skin glowing.

UV rays will affect both your skin AND hair. Most of do not consider the damaging effects sun can have on our hair, however UVA and UVB protection is especially critical in protecting and prolonging your hair color.
UV exposure irreversibly damages both the exterior of the hair shaft as well as the cortex interor. So what does that mean?
