Pixie haircut is classic. In Fashion and art, all things are cyclical. Same goes for hair, which we here at Studio 229 feel is a combination of fashion and art. At least for us it is.
To make what’s old new again and to give it a fresh take, really gets us going. Getting creative and making hair cuts new and modern is the name of the game.
We love the Pixie and are so glad it is back with a vengence. A hair cut that was originally popular with flappers and then coined by the famous supermodel Twiggy, the pixie hair cut is timeless and (should be) effortless. A pixie cut is typically shorter on the sides with a little bit more length at the top. It’s important to keep the sides soft however, leaving just a little length around the ears and nape for a feminine look.
While all of the above cuts are timeless and still totally relevant, there are ways to elevate this pixie haircut and make it more modern. It’s also important to customize this hair cut to suit your face shape and hair type.
The sleeker, shorter looks are best on fine, straight hair. You can give it a modern edge by carving out the sides and giving it a short fringe.
For wavier, thicker hair, it’s best to leave a little bit of length for a more tousled look. Thicker hair tends to be bulkier when it’s cut too short. A little length and texture will help add shape to a pixie haircut. We are loving Audrey Tatou’s adorable wavy Pixie haircut!
Which Pixie haircut is your favourite? We love them all!
